The woman's son, 43, and a deputy both suffered non-life threatening injuries in the blaze reported just after 11 p.m. on the 5300 block of Garden Lane, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Dane Tewmey, 29 and on the force since 2009, entered the home in an attempt to rescue the two, and had reached the woman when the fire flashed and caused an explosion, the department said. Tewmey was knocked backward, and despite a second attempt to go inside was unable as the fire was too intense, according to the agency.
Arriving crews from the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue extinguished the fire, and, after searching the residence, located the bodies of the woman and the little boy, deputies said.
