ST. PETERSBURG, FL — All three teenage suspects are in custody in connection with the May 22 fatal shooting of 14-year-old Gaige Santos-Brown, St. Petersburg police said.
The teens — a 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds — were charged with felony murder, police said.
One of the 16-year-olds was also charged with violation of supervised release.
Though police have released all three suspects’ names, it’s Patch policy not to identify those in the juvenile court system. It’s unknown whether they’re being charged as adults or juveniles.
St. Pete police told Patch that the Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney’s Office will make that determination.
Santos-Brown met with the teens on the night of the shooting just after 6:30 p.m.
Shots were fired, striking the 14-year-old, who was brought to a local hospital with critical injuries, police said. He later died from his injuries.
Investigators identified one of the 16-year-old suspects and he was arrested the night of the shooting.
All three suspects were identified and arrested by Tuesday morning, police said.
