Bryan Cranston Creating a Stir in St. Pete

The actor is in town to film scenes for 'The Infiltrator.'

St. Petersburg is abuzz with celebrity sightings as on-location filming for “The Infiltrator” gets under way.

Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad” fame was spotted Thursday at the Don Cesar with photos of his appearance making a big splash on the St. Pete Clearwater Film Commission’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Rays fans also spotted the star at Tuesday’s game at Tropicana Field.

“The Infiltrator” is a thriller based on author Robert Mazur’s autobiography, according to Variety. Mazur is a Tampa resident and past Drug Enforcement Agency officer who is credited with helping crackdown on the financial institution that laundered millions for Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Filming is also taking place at some locations in Hillsborough County. Crews were spotted Wednesday at Port Tampa Bay. All told, about 28 sites in the Tampa Bay area are being used to shoot scenes, TBO reported. Other locations include the Tampa Theater and Derby Lane.

It’s unclear when crews will be on location at particular sites. The film commission is staying pretty hush-hush about shooting details.

“We can’t really say where they’re going to be at because that’s one thing they like to avoid is too many fans showing up to get peaks of the actors,” the commission’s Tony Armer told WFLA.

Filming in the Bay is expected to wrap up sometime next week.
