Drive-Thru Drop Off Ballot Voting Offered At Tropicana Field

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Voters who aren't comfortable showing up at the polls in St. Petersburg for the general election because of coronavirus safety concerns won't even have to get out of their car to cast a vote when early voting starts Oct. 19.

Voters will have a drive-thru drop off ballot option to vote in this year's general election at the Tropicana Field, the city of St. Petersburg said.

A member of the Supervisor of Elections office will manage the daily operation of the site.

Early voting runs through Nov. 1. The drive-thru option will be open until early voting closes. Its hours of operation are Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voters who want to vote early should present a valid photo ID and a signature ID at the early voting site.

October 24 at 5 p.m. is the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot.

"Voting is Our Voice" campaign worked to help make this voting option happen for voters, the campaign said.

The voting organization wants to make sure that as many people as possible get a chance to vote this year, no excuses.

The Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum in partnership with Women Talk Black, the Tampa Bay Rays and more than 60 community organizations have joined forces to encourage the largest voter turnout in St. Petersburg's history, the campaign said.

Volunteers will take to the streets on Saturday to knock on doors, reminding residents to vote, and the importance of the returning the mail-in ballot, wave voting signs and motorcade through neighborhoods.
