Mother Kombucha Earns B Corp Certification
St. Petersburg-based Mother Kombucha has earned its B Corp Certification, “joining a global movement of people using business as a force for good,” according to a news release from the company. The certification measures a company’s environmental and social impact.
The process for B Corp certification is rigorous — measuring and verifying impact across areas including the environment, employees, community and customers, the company said.
"While it has always been part of our internal fabric to operate with what we would describe as B Corp values, we are incredibly excited to officially join the B Corp community," Tonya Donati, founder and CEO, said. "Not only does it bake those commitments into our corporate structure, it also gives us a baseline to determine how we are going to continue to set goals and make improvements in how we operate with a focus on people, planet and prosperity. As our business grows, so does the opportunity and the responsibility to effect positive change and magnify our impact."
A portion of Central Avenue’s bustling 600 Block is on the market.
Nearly 16,000 square feet of the vibrant downtown strip’s southern half — 654-670 Central Avenue — is for sale, according to a news release from Franklin Street.
Franklin Street’s retail investment sales team, Anthony Suarez and Ryan Derriman, is working with the property’s owner, Miami-based Tricera Capital, to market the sale of what they’re calling a “trophy retail asset,” which is fully leased and home to businesses like Mangosteen, Colony Grill, Pacific Counter, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Rocket Fizz.

The Edge District staple, located at 1049 Central Avenue — right at the roundabout — announced its closure on Facebook Saturday “with a heavy heart.”
The owners told Creative Loafing that they’re selling the building, not the brand, to Ryan Griffin, who helped create The Mandarin Hide and Trophy Fish.
