Distributors and customers should not use the products and should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase, authorities said.

People typically fall ill two to eight days after consuming E. coli. Most who are infected develop diarrhea, which is often bloody, and vomiting. Anyone who experiences easy bruising, pallor and decreased urine should immediately seek emergency care for possible hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure most common in children under 5, older adults and those with weakened immune systems.
