Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Metro Atlanta

Several metro Atlanta counties are also under a tornado watch and wind advisory.

METRO ATLANTA, GA — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 4:15 p.m. for multiple metro Atlanta counties.

The alert affects south central Cherokee, DeKalb, southern Forsyth, Cobb, eastern Douglas, western Gwinnett, Fulton and northwestern Clayton counties, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado was confirmed near Atlanta Airport Thursday afternoon.

Around 3:30 p.m., a line of severe thunderstorms moving northeast at 55 mph were located from Sandy Plains almost to Mableton to Chattahoochee Hills, according to the weather service. Wind gusts were moving at 60 mph.

Impacts include expected damage to roofs, siding and trees.
