• Acworth crash leaves 1 dead, 2 seriously injured after suspected medical event (atlantanewsfirst.com) — A deadly head-on collision on Lake Acworth Drive near Cottage Oaks Drive has left an Acworth woman dead and a child and another driver hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators suspect the pickup driver suffered a medical event before crossing the center line, and Acworth and Cobb County police are asking anyone who saw the crash to call their tip line.
   

• New business listings filed in unincorporated Cobb County for the week of Aug. 23–Aug. 30, 2026 (macon.com) — Several new businesses have been approved in the Acworth area of unincorporated Cobb County, including a tennis instruction center, a janitorial service, a hauling contractor, a package store, and a food service company. These fresh licenses hint at new jobs, services, and shopping options that Acworth residents may soon notice in their neighborhoods.
   

• Gators finish first in the Stan Sims Cross Country Opener - The Independent Florida Alligator (alligator.org) — A major collegiate cross country meet brought the University of Florida, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, and Emory to Acworth, where both Gators teams dominated the Stan Sims Opener. The event at a local course put Acworth on the regional running map and previewed strong NCAA hopes for Florida's men's and women's squads.
