Road Work Project Causes Sewer Backup into Lake Acworth
The manhole overflow was cleared by water workers on Monday, but not before a hundred gallons of wastewater was sent into the lake.

A mishap during a road work project on Monday morning caused a sewer line to back up and send around 100 gallons of wastewater into Lake Acworth, The Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Cobb County Water System workers were alerted to the situation at 4200 Nance Road in Acowrth at 9:59 a.m. They arrived on scene and discovered a concrete barrel and a damaged manhole ring had caused gravel to enter the sewer line and back it up, spilling the waste into the lake.
Workers used a jet machine to clear the stoppage, then called in a sewer cleaning truck. Workers also sprayed a storm ditch near the affected area with enzymes. The overflow was cleared out by 10:20 a.m.
