Albany State University Launches 'Forever a Ram' Brick Campaign (albanyceo.com) — Albany State University is inviting alumni, families, and supporters to literally cement their legacy on campus through the new Forever a Ram Brick Campaign, which could raise more than $1 million for scholarships, athletics, and the band. Personalized bricks, available with payment plans, will be installed at key campus locations and unveiled at Homecoming 2027 as permanent tributes to the people behind ASU's story.

Albany State football gives Dougherty County Xtreme players day to remember (albanyherald.com) — Albany State University's football team and Marching Rams Show Band recently hosted Dougherty County Xtreme youth players on the Albany State practice field, turning an ordinary practice into a powerful mentoring experience. Players and band members spent hours coaching, performing, and encouraging kids, helping them see college and future opportunities as more attainable goals.

Southwest Georgia counties among state's highest 988 users (wctv.tv) — Albany-area residents are using the 988 crisis line at some of the highest rates in Georgia, with Dougherty County leading the state when adjusted for population. As Suicide Prevention Month ends, officials stress that anyone facing a mental health or substance use crisis can call or text 988 anytime, while 911 remains the number for immediate safety emergencies.

Restaurant Report: Dead roaches found at Albany establishment, Tifton food truck gets 100 (walb.com) — Turner Job Corps Cafeteria in Albany recently scored an 85 on its food service inspection, with three violations that must be corrected by late September. The story also spotlights Tifton-based Dairy Kingz, a dessert food truck that earned a perfect 100 and regularly brings its fair-style treats to Albany school events, games, and festivals across South Georgia.
