Missing Teen Found Safe; Search Continues For Other Girl

Police believe Brooklyn Smith could be with her father, who is violating a court order that bans contact between the two, authorities say.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Hours after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a Levi's Call to help locate two missing teenagers, one of the girls have been found safe.

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said Desire Hall, 16, was located in Covington, which is located east of Atlanta in Newton County. She was not with 13-year-old Brooklyn Smith, whose whereabouts are still unknown at this time.

The agency said Desire was located by law enforcement officers in the city who were responding to an unrelated call at a motel.

"Desire was walking in the parking lot and stated a male (other than Spires) had dropped her off," Alpharetta police said on their Facebook page.

Both teens were last seen leaving Main Event, an entertainment venue, Saturday evening in Alpharetta.

Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesperson George Gordon said the agency believes Brooklyn, who is in the care of the Division of Family and Children Services, could be with Brooklyn's father, Steven Keith Spires.

An existing court order prohibits any contact between father and daughter, the agency previously told Patch.

"It is believed that Brooklyn contacted her father, Steven Spires," the department said on its Facebook page. "There is a significant history, but no one witnessed Brooklyn or Desire entering a car with Spires. We have been unable to locate Spires."

Alpharetta police and the GBI are looking for a black 2001 Ford Taurus bearing Georgia tag CAY7195.

Steven Keith Spires is described as a white male who is roughly 5’7” tall and weighs around 150 pounds.

Brooklyn Smith is about 4'11" to 5 feet in height, weighs around 100 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a camouflaged jacket and pants with a Florida Georgia Line band T-shirt and brown cowboy boots.

“Obviously the best interest of all is to get them back under the custodial care of DFCS," Gordon previously told Patch.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Brooklyn Smith, Spires or the black 2011 Ford Taurus, call 911 immediately.
