911 Dispatcher Credited With Helping Driver of Car Submerged in Pond
The Alpharetta dispatcher was able to send help to the Sandy Springs woman whose car ended up in a southeast Cherokee County Pond.

On Dec. 29, an Alpharetta 911 dispatcher received an emergency call from a frantic caller.
The caller contacted 911 while in distress after she accidentally drove her vehicle off a roadway into a lake.

Alpharetta dispatchers quickly obtained the possible street name and location from the caller and immediately determined the accident occurred outside the city of Alpharetta. The 911 call, however, was captured by the nearest cell tower in Alpharetta.

The Alpharetta dispatcher quickly contacted Milton and Cherokee (County) first responders and advised them of the possible location. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a vehicle in a lake with an unresponsive driver who was in medical distress.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital and is recovering.
“During this holiday period, let’s remember those public safety police officers, firefighters and especially the first vital link in the chain of survival: our 911 operators,” the agency said.
