Another Hidden Camera Found Inside Starbucks Bathroom

The camera was found at the same Alpharetta location where another recording device was discovered on April 17 by a customer.

ALPHARETTA, GA — A Starbucks employee has found a hidden recording device inside a restroom just two weeks after a patron discovered a similar set up at the coffee shop's location on Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta.

Alpharetta officers responded Thursday afternoon to Starbucks at 2705 Old Milton Parkway after receiving a report that the device was found in the restroom by an employee. Alpharetta police spokesperson Howard Miller said the device was collected and detectives are "actively investigating the matter."

As readers recall, a customer using the bathroom at the location on April 17 found a video recording device taped to the baby changing station in a restroom at the store, which is located between Westside Parkway and the Ga. 400 interchange. Miller told Patch that the camera found Thursday was discovered in another bathroom at the location, but was also attached to the baby changing station.

In the latest incident, the female employee went inside, sat down on the toilet and saw the video camera facing her direction. The woman alerted her manager, who called police as well as coffee giant's corporate office.

"No other video recording devices have been located or reported to the Alpharetta Police Department," he added.

Miller added it's "very, very early" in the investigation to determine how long the camera has been installed in the bathroom or how many people have been recorded using the restroom.

In the April 17 incident, a customer using the restroom found the camera attached to a baby changing station, which was pointed at the toilet seat. That customer notified an employee, who informed the corporate office. The resident, according to an incident report, felt Alpharetta police should be notified about the discovery, so she made the 9-1-1 call.

Alpharetta police told Patch at the time no suspects have been identified in connection to that discovery. Miller noted that case remains active, but no new information has been unearthed in that investigation.

Miller also used the latest discovery to remind residents to be vigilant in public spaces, particularly areas such as dressing rooms and bathrooms. It only takes a few seconds to take note of your surroundings.

“It’s good practice to do anywhere you go," he added.

A Starbucks spokesperson said the company has "increased rate of bathroom checks to prevent any foul play" since the April 17 incident.

"Our partners (employees) moved swiftly once they found the device and called law enforcement," the spokesperson added.
