Armed Robbery, Carjacking Suspect Arrested
Thomas Bennett, wanted by Alpharetta police in connection to 2 incidents, was located at a home in southeast Cherokee County.
CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA -- The man accused of carjacking a woman in Alpharetta and trying to rob a drug store on Crabapple Road has been taken into custody.
Thomas Bennett, 47, was arrested in a joint operation with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and Alpharetta investigators, Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesperson George Gordon said.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said Bennett was arrested at a home on Batesville Road in southeast Cherokee County. No charges were filed in Cherokee County, and Bennett was released to Alpharetta police.

Detectives issued felony warrants for Bennett's arrest on one count each of carjacking, robbery and armed robbery in connection to two incidents occurring within a two-week time span.
Bennett is accused of carjacking a woman Dec. 5 on Rucker Road at Harris Road. Authorities also believe he is behind the attempted robbery of Walgreen's at 12305 Crabapple Road, which was reported Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Alpharetta police previously told Patch that Bennett walked into the store, "stated he had a gun and would shoot unless he was given cash."
The vehicle Bennett allegedly carjacked from his victim was found Thursday afternoon on Arnold Mill Road near River Ridge High School in Woodstock. Police were able to identify him Thursday evening, and issued warrants for his arrest.
Gordon said Bennett will be transported to the Fulton County Jail's Alpharetta annex.
