Milton Reopens Qualifying For City Council Seat
No candidates qualified for the District 3, Post 1 seat, so the qualifying period will continue Aug. 28-29.

MILTON, GA -- Milton will have to restart the qualifying period for the Nov. 7 municipal elections, as no one stepped up to run for one of the City Council seats that will be on the ballot.
The city will reopen qualifying for the District 3, Post 1 seat held by incumbent Joe Longoria. Qualifying will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28 and Tuesday, Aug. 29.

There will be at least two contested races that will be decided by residents on the Nov. 7 ballot. Incumbent Mayor Joe Lockwood will face challenger Dr. Laura L. Rencher while District 2, Post 1 Councilman Bill Lusk will take on Laura Snelling Bentley.
District 1, Post 1 candidate Peyton Jamison will face no opposition, as incumbent Karen Thurman decided against seeking re-election this year.

The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 7 municipal election is Oct. 10, and Fulton County will hold early voting Monday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Nov. 3. This will also include voting on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29. Please note this early voting time period does not include Saturday, Oct. 21 or Sunday, Oct. 22. Early voting locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
