Milton Students Stage Broadway Musical Water for Elephants with Aerial Acrobatics
Milton High School is one of the first high schools in the country to stage the production since it was released for school licensing
Based on the Tony Award–nominated Broadway musical, Water for Elephants tells a story of love and survival set in the world of a traveling circus. Milton’s production is uniquely staged through a collaboration between the school’s award-winning Advanced Drama program and its Cirque program, which integrates aerial silks and acrobatics directly into the storytelling.
Milton is the only public high school in Georgia with a dedicated Cirque program, allowing the production to reflect the physicality and spectacle of the original Broadway staging in a way rarely seen at the high school level.
Earlier this season, Milton’s One-Act competition version of Water for Elephants earned First Place at the Region level and Third Place Overall at the GHSA State Competition, along with awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Technical Execution. The January performances present the complete Broadway musical with expanded scenes, music, and staging.
