Mother's Finest to Headline Big Canoe Charity Weekend as Golf Tournament Returns
Registration and concert tickets are now open for "Paint Big Canoe Purple," a weekend benefiting the Alzheimer's Association

The Big Canoe community's annual charity golf tournament is back for a second year, and this time it comes with a concert. Memories Matter Forever, a Big Canoe-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, announced today that its 2nd Annual Memories Matter Forever Golf Tournament has grown into a weekend called "Paint Big Canoe Purple," headlined by a live benefit concert from the legendary funk-rock band Mother's Finest. Both the tournament and the concert are open to the public; registration and tickets are now open, and all proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
After an overwhelming response to last year's tournament, organizers added the Friday-night concert to give the wider community a new way to be part of the cause.
"This community showed up for us in a way we never expected," said Sterling Kenyon, event organizer and founder of Memories Matter Forever. "What started as one round of golf has become something bigger, and we're doing it in memory of my wife, Amanda, and for every family still facing this disease."

Memories Matter Forever was founded in honor of Amanda Kenyon, who was taken from her family and friends far too soon by early-onset Alzheimer's. The weekend honors her memory and stands with the many families living with the disease today. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

"Every dollar we raise is a step toward a future without Alzheimer's, a future where no family has to go through what mine did," Kenyon said. "We'd love for the whole community to come paint Big Canoe purple with us."
