Scarecrow Displays To Fill Downtown Alpharetta (patch.com) — Downtown Alpharetta is gearing up for the 21st Annual Scarecrow Harvest, filling the streets with at least 150 creative scarecrow displays from Oct. 4 through Nov. 1. Nonprofits, businesses, schools, families, and neighborhoods all contribute designs, and visitors can enjoy a Scarecrow Puzzle Hunt while strolling through the Halloween-themed displays.
   

2. Daycare worker accused of molesting children offered plea deal (wsbtv.com) — Families in Alpharetta are watching closely as a former Kids 'R' Kids worker from Webb Bridge Road weighs a plea deal over child molestation charges that could bring decades in prison. Prosecutors have offered 25 years, with 20 to serve, and a lifetime sex-offender registration requirement. If she rejects it by Nov. 1, the case could go to trial later this year.
   

3. Fulton County students named National Merit semifinalists (fultonneighbor.com) — Alpharetta families can celebrate several local seniors from Alpharetta High School, Cambridge, Chattahoochee, Johns Creek, and other nearby schools being named National Merit semifinalists, placing them among the top 1% of students nationwide. These teens now compete for thousands of scholarships, with most expected to advance to Finalist status and winners announced next spring.
   

4. KJ Biermann Faces Strict Rules After Jail Release on Sodomy and Sexual Battery Charges (pulptastic.com) — A high-profile teen defendant is accused of serious sexual offenses that prosecutors say occurred in Alpharetta earlier this year, and he now faces strict bond conditions if released. A Fulton County judge ordered passport surrender, electronic monitoring, virtual schooling, and bans on social media and contact with minors while he awaits trial. His attorney maintains he is completely innocent.
   

5. Hackers Got Inside a Flock Camera. Its Data Shows How the System Really Works (wired.com subscription) — Alpharetta drivers should know that data from the city's Flock license-plate cameras has reportedly been accessible to more than 2,000 agencies nationwide, raising fresh questions about privacy and data sharing. Hackers who dismantled a Flock camera exposed how the devices capture and store images of vehicles and even people. Their findings are fueling broader debate over whether communities want such surveillance systems.
