According to the agency’s Facebook page, the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. April 29 at the hotel on Windward Parkway. A family was loading up their personal vehicle with leftover jewelry at the hotel’s front entrance following the show.

While they were packing up the vehicle, a black, newer model Toyota 4-Runner backs up to the rear of the targeted vehicle.

A male driver and passenger were captured on surveillance video exiting the SUV. One of the suspects allegedly walked over and pepper sprayed family members as they were loading the vehicle while the other tried to steal the suitcases, police said.

A fight broke out during the attempted robbery, and an elderly female victim was able to wrestle a suitcase from one of the suspects, the agency stated. Additionally, a male victim fought with one of the suspects and ”eventually ripped off his hooded shirt,” police said.

Both suspects got back into the 4-Runner and fled the area. Alpharetta officers quickly responded, but did not make it in time to catch the suspects.

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety is asking the public for help in identifying the suspects or provide any information that could help in their efforts to crack the case.

Residents can call and leave a message on the tip line at 678-297-6307. Callers can remain anonymous, and the agency will keep all tipster information confidential.
