4 Indicted In Athens Fatal Shooting: AG
Police said Ja'Vanni McDavid, 24, was shot and killed on March 5 in the 100 block of Northview Drive.
ATHENS, GA — Four people were indicted on May 16 in connection with a fatal shooting in March at Northview Drive, Attorney General Chris Carr said in a news release Monday.
Athens-Clarke County Police previously said Ja'Vanni McDavid, 24, was shot and killed on March 5 in the 100 block of Northview. The Athens resident was shot around 12:15 a.m. and was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. McDavid later died from those injuries, police said.
Jaden "Jay Savage" Appling, 20, Anthony "Nick" Brown, 19, X’Zydric "Sun Sun" Faust, 16, and Glendarius "Glen" Tate, 20 - all of Athens - were indicted, Carr said.

Appling, Brown, Faust and Tate are accused of being members of Everybody Killa, a hybrid street gang, Carr said.
“This violence must stop before more lives are lost and more families are destroyed,” Carr said in the release. “By leveraging our resources across all levels of law enforcement, we are able to more effectively dismantle the growing gang networks that are terrorizing our communities. We have partnered with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and the GBI since day one, and we will continue working together to protect all of our fellow Georgians.”

The GBI's Gang Task Force and Carr's Gang Prosecution Unit assisted Athens-Clarke County Police with the case.
Individual charges are as follows:
- Appling: felony murder, aggravated assault, two counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree criminal damage to property.
- Brown: felony murder, aggravated assault, two counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree criminal damage to property and driving while license suspended.
- Faust: felony murder, aggravated assault, two counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree criminal damage to property.
- Tate: felony murder, aggravated assault, two counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree criminal damage to property.
