21 Georgia Nursing Homes Rated As Best In State: U.S. News

ATLANTA GA —A new set of ratings places nearly 2,300 nursing homes in the United States as top care providers in the country for 2017-18. The “Nursing Home Finder,” released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report, evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes across the country to come up with the list of homes designated as the best.

To create the “Nursing Home Finder,” U.S. News used data from Nursing Home Compare, a program run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The nursing homes were rated “poor” to “top-performing” on a scale of 1 to 5.

In Georgia, 21 nursing homes made the list. U.S. News says nursing home performance was evaluated over time, averaging monthly data over a year and much emphasis was placed on strong performance in medical quality measures. To receive a high U.S. News rating, homes had to provide significantly more than the required minimum of rehabilitation therapy. All rated homes accept residents covered by Medicaid, Medicare or both. (You can read more about how U.S. News rates nursing homes here.)

The 21 Georgia nursing homes listed below were labeled as “top performing” and had overall ratings of 4.5 or greater:

3. Oakview Health and Rehabilitation, Summerville (5)
4. Cumming Nurse Center, Cumming (5)
5. Candler Skilled Nursing Unit, Savannah (5)
6. The Oaks Nursing Home Inc., Marshallville (5)
7. Laurel Park At Henry Med Center, Stockbridge (5)
8. Union County Nursing Home, Blairsville (5)
9. Church Home Rehabilitation And Healthcare, Fort Valley (5)
10. Spring Harbor At Green Island, Columbus (5)
11. Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation, Vidalia (5)
12. Lenbrook, Atlanta (4.8)
13. Calhoun Health Care Center, Calhoun (4.8)
14. Washington Co Extended Care Facility, Sandersville (4.8)
15. Miller Nursing Home, Colquitt (4.6)
16. Ridgewood Manor Health And Rehabilitation, Dalton (4.6)
17. High Shoals Health And Rehabilitation, Bishop (4.5)
18. Gracemore Nursing And Rehab, Brunswick (4.5)

The homes that received the designation of a best U.S. News nursing home for 2017-18 represent about 15 percent of all homes, according to the publication.
