1. $68 million sale of Atlanta detention center one step closer to reality (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Atlanta's proposed $68 million sale of the City Detention Center to Fulton County just cleared a key Public Safety Committee vote, moving it closer to final approval. City leaders, employees, and residents are sharply divided over selling the jail while leasing back space, with concerns about overcrowding, inmate treatment, and long-term control of the facility still unresolved before upcoming finance and full council votes.
   

2. Atlanta Public Schools hits record 91.2 percent graduation rate (atlantadailyworld.com) — Atlanta Public Schools just hit a record 91.2% graduation rate for the Class of 2026, topping the statewide average and continuing seven years of growth. More APS high schools now exceed 90%, several reached 100%, and long-standing equity gaps—especially for Black, multilingual, disabled, and low-income students—narrowed as more than 3,200 students finished on time.
   

3. Former metro Atlanta bank teller accused of stealing nearly $1M from customers (kiss104fm.com) — Atlanta-area bank customers are being warned after a former Ameris Bank teller was indicted on federal charges alleging she helped steal nearly $1 million through fraudulent transfers to cryptocurrency accounts. Prosecutors say the Stone Mountain woman used sensitive account information from several Atlanta branches in 2021, and federal agents vow to aggressively pursue similar financial crimes.
   

4. You again? Rival Braves, Phillies ready to add to their playoff history (statenews.net) — Atlanta baseball fans get another high-stakes showdown as the Braves host the Phillies in a best-of-three wild-card series, looking to reverse several recent playoff disappointments. With Chris Sale starting Game 1 and home-field advantage, Atlanta faces a familiar Philadelphia core that has repeatedly thrived in October despite a shaky regular season finish.
