Atlanta apartment shortlist: check the commute before you tour

Choosing between Atlanta neighborhoods? Build your apartment shortlist around the trips you actually make.

Before booking tours, check:

• The route from each exact building to your regular destinations, not just the neighborhood name.

• Travel estimates for the times you normally leave and return.

• If you use MARTA, the walk to the stop, transfers and service times for your trip.

• Parking availability and costs at both ends of a driving commute.

• The errands you make most often, such as groceries, and how you'd get there.

A map estimate is a starting point, not a guaranteed commute. If practical, test the route at your usual travel time before choosing a place.
