Academy basketball standout was killed in an alleged DUI crash on I-75 near Mount Paran Road in Atlanta, and police say the other driver faces vehicular homicide and DUI charges. Former coaches and loved ones are mourning him as a model student and teammate whose influence in Atlanta classrooms and on the court went far beyond sports.
   

4. Atlanta woman accused of keeping 4 children in her semitruck for years while they were abused (atlantanewsfirst.com) — An Atlanta-based truck driver has been arrested in Florida, accused of forcing four children to live for years in the sleeper cab of her semitruck while they were allegedly abused on routes between Atlanta and Miami. Florida's attorney general says the children were denied basic care and some suffered serious injuries, with both the Atlanta woman and a Florida co-defendant now facing multiple child abuse and sexual battery charges.
   

5. Film, production studio wants DeKalb County to allow data center construction (atlantanewsfirst.com) — A metro Atlanta film studio, Shadowbox Studios, is suing DeKalb County after officials blocked its planned data center, despite earlier approvals and $30 million already spent. With public comments due by September 3 and a key zoning appeal set for September 9, DeKalb and Atlanta-area residents are weighing environmental, health, and equity concerns over where heavy industry belongs.
