Trump RICO Trial: Fulton DA Seeks Trial Date Ahead Of General Election
Per a media report, the Fulton Co. district attorney asks for an August 2024 trial date in a racketeering case against the ex-president.

ATLANTA — Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is seeking an Aug. 5, 2024 trial date for the racketeering and election interference case against ex-U.S. President Donald J. Trump, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Willis' requested date comes ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Trump is reportedly slated to be a frontrunner for the March 12, 2024 primary.
Trump and 18 others are accused of trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

The former chief executive was charged on suspicion of violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, three counts of solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, two counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit forgery, two counts of conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, conspiracy to commit filing false documents, filing false documents and false statements and writings. He was released on a $200,000 bond.
Willis and Trump have tossed around potential trial dates, with Trump previously proposing a 2026 trial.

"The proposed trial date 'balances potential delays from Defendant Trump’s other criminal trials in sister sovereigns and the other Defendants’ constitutional speedy trial rights,'" the AJC reported, citing Willis' court filing Friday.
