Alleged Sexual Predator Faces New Charges

Equeill Williams, 22, has been publily named a suspect in four sexual assaults.

BUFORD, GA -- A Buford man who is suspected in as many as four different sexual assaults now officially faces charges in two of them.

Gwinnett County Police on Monday announced that Equeill Williams, 22, has been charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment in relation to a March 3 incident that happened in a Rite Aid parking lot in Buford.

Williams already is being held without bond at Gwinnett County Jail, charged with rape, armed robbery and kidnapping for an attack Wednesday outside a restaurant on Buford Drive.

In the March 3 incident, police say a victim walked out of the Rite Aid at 4470 Nelson Brogdon Rd. in Buford at about 6:30 p.m. after shopping.

When she got into her vehicle, a suspect, whom police allege was Williams, walked up and asked her for a sexual favor. When she refused, he pointed a handgun at her and told her to get in the back seat. The suspect got into the back seat with her and masturbated, then fled the scene in a silver vehicle.

Last week, after arresting Williams for Wednesday's attack, Gwinnett Police said he matched the description of the suspect in three other assaults. The March 3 incident was one of them.

On Wednesday, shortly before 9 p.m., police responded to the Golden Buddha restaurant at 4300 Buford Dr.

There, a 28-year-old woman told officers she had just ordered take-out from the restaurant and was loading food into her car when she was approached from behind by a man.

The man, allegedly Williams, told her to get into her vehicle or she would be shot, then choked her and demanded money.

During the assault, the victim said, the suspect was wearing a wig that she was able to pull off.

After taking the victim's credit card, the suspect raped her in the backseat of her vehicle, then ran away.

Police have named Williams a suspect in two other attacks.

  • On August 17, 2015, at about 10 p.m. a suspect walked up behind a victim at a local apartment complex. As she unlocked her door, the suspect groped her, then ran away laughing.
  • On April 4, a victim was leaving the Walgreens at 4397 Sudderth Rd. in Buford at about 10:15 p.m. When she got into her vehicle, she was approached by a suspect who put his hand over her mouth and neck and told her to shut up. The victim began fighting, screaming and honking the horn of her vehicle and the suspect ran away.

No one has yet been charged in either of those cases.

"We are disgusted by the acts of the suspect involved in these cases," Gwinnett Police Cpl. Deon Washington said in a written statement last week. "Our hearts go out to the victims involved in these cases and we stand side by side with them in seeing to it that justice is served in a court of law."
