Family of 5 Safe, Their Home a Total Loss, After Buford-Area Fire

The blaze was ruled accidental.

A Wednesday afternoon fire resulted in a total loss of a Buford residence, but no injuries.

Still, a family of one adult and four children were displaced and needed assistance from the Red Cross.

Gwinnett Fire spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said in an emailed media alert that the fire was reported around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Fire crews arrived on the scene to see smoke and fire coming from the backside of the home, a two-story split level structure in the 1300 block of Jered Court.

According to Rhoden,  “The house sustained heavy fire and structural damage and is a total loss. A house adjacent to the fire has damage from the radiant heat to the exterior vinyl siding.”
