Dialysis is a life-sustaining process that cleans waste products from the blood and removes extra fluids when a person’s kidneys fail. Dialysis patients typically require treatment on an ongoing basis unless they receive a kidney transplant.

Fresenius Medical Care Braselton offers other dialysis patient services including a kidney transplant support program, vascular care, anemia management, nutrition counseling, bone disease management and social worker support.

“Patients at this new facility will benefit from our mission to deliver superior care that improves the quality of life of every patient, every day,” said Sophia Bogar, R.N., clinical manager for Fresenius Medical Care Braselton. “We recognize that dialysis patients spend many hours receiving treatment each week, so we are pleased to now be able to offer that same exceptional level of service in a more convenient location for people in the Buford area.”

Fresenius Medical Care facilities use blood-filtering dialyzers only once, unlike other facilities that may disinfect and reuse them. The Buford facility also has an emergency backup electrical generator to ensure that critical patient care continues in the event of a power outage. Dialysis stations also feature the CHAIRSIDE® online charting and electronic health record system with touch-screen monitors, for clinical staff to enter and securely track critical patient information.

Each dialysis treatment station features reclining, heated treatment chairs with massage capabilities and individual media systems to enhance patient comfort. Wireless Internet access is also available for patients who bring their own computers or Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones.

Fresenius Medical Care also offers Treatment Options Programs (TOPs) at no cost, to inform at-risk patients and their families about chronic kidney disease and all available treatments for kidney failure, including dialysis and kidney transplants. Sessions are open to the public and are held monthly; call toll-free 1-877-TOPS-LIFE (1-877-867-7543) for more information.
