'Merry Christmas' Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Gwinnett Police say the suspect turned himself in after seeing media coverage of the robbery of the BB&T Bank in Buford.

Buford, GA -- The bank robber who wrote “Merry Christmas” on a note demanding cash turned himself in after hearing media coverage of his heist, police say.

Joshua Henry Harbin, 30, has been arrested in the Monday robbery of BB&T Bank in Buford.

Police say a man walked into the bank, at 4394 Buford Dr., at about 12:30 p.m. Monday and handed the teller a note demanding cash.

At the bottom of the note, he had written the words: “Merry Christmas.”

Gwinnett County Police say he made away with a small amount of cash.

Tuesday evening, Harbin heard media coverage of the case on the radio, according to a police news release. He then approached an Atlanta woman and asked her to call police.

Atlanta Police took custody of Harbin and transported him to Gwinnett County Jail, where police say he has been cooperative with investigators.

Harbin is charged with one count of robbery.
