Suspected Drunk Driver Admits Having '5 or 6 Beers' ... '5 or 6 Months Ago'
Man was found asleep in his pickup truck at the Shell station on Hamilton Mill Road near I-85.

A police officer investigating multiple complaints regarding a white pickup truck driving on the shoulder of I-85 southbound had no trouble spotting the vehicle upon pulling into the parking lot of the Shell station on Hamilton Mill Road during the afternoon of March 30.
"I arrived at the location and discovered a white Dodge pickup truck ... parked sideways across several spaces in the parking lot of the business," the officer wrote in the police report.

"I attempted to wake the male up and he would not wake up so I reached in to the cab of the truck and placed the truck into park," the officer noted.
The officer noticed a "strong odor" of alcoholic beverage coming from Cook and asked the Florida man if he was okay. Cook said he was fine and apologized to the officer.

The officer asked Cook if he knew where he was and Cook reportedly replied he was in Houston and was on his way home. When asked how much alcohol he had consumed, Cook, according to the report, admitted having five or six beers.
"I asked him how long ago he had those beers and he stated five or six months ago," the officer wrote.
The officer asked Cook for his license. Cook handed the officer eight different cards before the officer stopped him and asked again for his license. The officer then asked Cook to step out of the vehicle and Cook "opened the door and promptly fell out of the vehicle."
The officer attempted to conduct field sobriety tests, but Cook was unable to complete them and was then handcuffed and placed in the patrol car.
During a post-arrest search of Cook's vehicle, the officer found a clear Solo brand cup containing orange juice which "had a strong odor of alcohol."
Cook's vehicle was impounded and he was transported to GCPD's North Precinct in Buford for the state administered breath test. The results indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .253 -- over three times the legal limit.
During the subsequent trip to the jail, Cook "had several mood swings." According to the officer's report, Cook would "apologize and be polite one minute and the next minute he was shouting at me that he was going to sue me, my family and the county."
Cook, who is listed in the police report with a Florida address but is listed in jail records with a Lawrenceville, Ga. address, was booked into the jail on charges of DUI, driving while license suspended or revoked and an open container violation. He was released the following day on a $3,010 bond.
