Walmart Shoplifter Caught Trying to Get Refund for Stolen Items

It was noticeably odd when a Braselton man was seen walking into a Buford Walmart carrying an empty weed sprayer box last weekend.

According to a Gwinnett County Police incident report, the man used the box in an attempt to scheme the store out of refund money. The incident happened March 21 at the store located at 3795 Buford Drive.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police the man came into the store with the box, grabbed a cart, and put the box inside.

He went to one aisle and put four bottles of bleach in the cart, then went to the aisle where the same brand weed sprayers as the box are located.

The store officer said the man used a cutting knife to remove a weed sprayer from a box and place it in his box.

He then went to the refund counter to return the items, but was caught.

The loss prevention officer said because it was the second time the suspect has been caught shoplifting at a Walmart he had to press charges.

The value of the items he wanted to return was about $20.
