GEORGIA — Several Georgians earned the right to be listed in the Guinness World Records in 2019 for a variety of reasons. From breaking speed records, to creating new ways to play music without limbs, Peach State residents broke multiple records this year. Read on for the best.

Here are four records set in Georgia in 2019

  1. On Feb. 3, millions of Americans watched as the New England Patriots took on the Los Angeles Rams in a 13-3 win. Online viewers of CBS Sports HQ’s dedicated pre-game live show were able to also watch history in the making. Cleveland Brown’s wide receiver Jarvis Landry tried to tackle the Most one-handed American football catches in one minute and break the current record of 45. After one attempt and minute later, Landry broke the record by 3 for a total of 48 footballs caught.
  2. The fastest mile controlling a table tennis ball is 6 min 59.68 sec, and was achieved by J.D. Blitch in Atlanta on Aug. 18. J.D. has always aspired to be a Guinness World Records title holder, and combined his skills of running and table tennis to achieve this title.
  3. The most drumbeats in one minute using a drumstick prosthetic is 2,400, achieved by Jason Barnes using a prosthetic arm created by Gil Weinberg (both USA) in Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta on Sept. 10. Jason Barnes, an amputee drummer, wore an electromyographic band that senses muscle activity from his forearm. The prosthetic arm is triggered by the muscle sensor to start drumming.
  4. The most wins in the NASCAR Truck Series is 56, achieved by Kyle Busch (USA) between May 2005 and 2019. Inaugurated in 1995, the NASCAR Truck Series is regarded as the third tier of the three national NASCAR divisions, behind the NASCAR Cup Series and the Xfinity Series. Kyle Busch surpassed Ron Hornaday Jr’s record of 51 with victory No.52 on Feb. 23 at the Ultimate Tailgating 200 in Atlanta.
