Collins Dixon Bend Your Knees 5K, Fun Run Returns in July

Collins Dixon Foundation, Bend Your Knees, Inc. will be hosting the 4th Annual Collins Dixon Bend Your Knees Run on Saturday, July 11th, 2015; there will be a 5K Run and 1 Mile “Brave” Fun Run at First Baptist Church in Canton. This is a meaningful community event and a great way to raise awareness of childhood brain cancer along with raising money to support families that are facing the battle and journey of a child with a cancerous brain tumor.

Cancer is the 2nd largest cause of death in our children of which brain tumors is the number one cause of a cancerous death. This year, Bend Your Knees is committed to “giving back”. Bend Your Knees was founded in loving memory of Collins Dixon, who at the age of 12 impacted this community and beyond with his strength and courage while battling an aggressive brain tumor for over 10 months. Collins never gave up on his faith in God and believed that he would be healed. Collins was a Warrior and refused to accept any limitations cancer put on him by going to school throughout chemo and radiation treatments. Collins lived his life fully with hope. Collins wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. A portion of the proceeds will be given to Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, a non-profit charity that provides support to families of children with brain tumors and Cure Childhood Cancer. Through the funds we have raised over the past 3 years we have been able to help several families not only locally in Cherokee County, but throughout the Southeast. We work with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation through the Collins Dixon Memorial fund to be able to give to children outside of our local reach. By doing so we have been able to help the families of over 14 children in the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, South Carolina and Tennessee. Race Details

The race is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th at 8:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Canton. Pre-race activities (including course instructions) begins at 7:30 AM. Arrive at 7 and go to the Pre-race registration tent to receive your race number and safety pins. Note: We will be doing Race Day Registration for any last minute sign ups from 7am – 7:30am
