5K For Reinhardt's ADay Scheduled For Sept. 16 In Canton
The third-annual race raises money for Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt University.
CANTON, GA -- It's time to lace up those running shoes and pound the pavement to help Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt University.
The college's 5K for ADay will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16 in downtown Canton. This third-annual race is a exciting way to exercise and raise money for local students enrolled in classes at the university.
“5K for ADay is always a great event,” said Rick Rowland, the 2017-18 chairman for the ADay for Reinhardt Cherokee County committee. “The course is perfect for the amateur or expert runner, and it’s all for a great cause.”

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. at Cannon Park at 130 East Main Street. Healthy snacks will be served after the race. Early registration packet pickup will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at Bank of North Georgia, which is at 300 East Main Street in Canton (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Early registration is for the 5K run/walk is $25 for participants 12 and older until Sept. 9. The price rises to $30 after that date. Registration for runners and walkers age 11 and younger is $15, and those wishing to contribute but not participate on race day can support a student for $25. Those who register by Sept. 9 are guaranteed a T-shirt in their race day bags. Door prizes also will be given. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishes. The top three finishers in each age group also will earn a trophy.

The 5K for ADay is part of the Black Bag Race Series and is a rain or shine event.

“We could not do this event without our wonderful sponsors and runners,” said Dale Morrissey, director of development and external relations for Reinhardt University. “We have sponsorships for different budgets and all include free race registrations.”
