6 Indicted In Armed Robbery Near Downtown Canton

The defendants took drugs and $230 in cash during the Sept. 21, 2017, robbery at a residence on Jefferson Circle, the indictment alleges.

CANTON, GA — Six defendants have been indicted in connection to an armed robbery reported in September just outside downtown Canton.

A Cherokee County grand jury on Tuesday, Jan. 9 indicted Nicole Ann Clary of Jasper, William Elijah Harris of Acworth, Shamer Lamar Jones of Canton, Marissa Elizabeth Lemieux of Jasper, Brittany Elizabeth McGuire of Jasper and Deshaun Gabriel Tiller of Canton each on two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of armed robbery and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

They are accused of robbing a man of money and drugs at a home on Sept. 21 on Jefferson Circle. According to the indictment, the defendants held up the victim using a BB gun and stole $230 from him during the robbery.

Officers with the Canton Police Department were dispatched to the call of a robbery and met with the victim, who was able to provide police with a description of the suspected vehicle. Police tracked down the red Dodge Dart on East Main Street near Interstate 575, conducted a traffic stop and took the suspects into custody.

Meanwhile, officers and detectives arrived at the residence and began working the crime scene as part of the investigation. Additional statements were taken and a search warrant was secured for the residence. Detectives were able to recover drugs and the firearm allegedly used during the robbery.

"Detectives determined that the complainant in the case was set up by the suspects to meet him at the vacant residence in order to forcibly rob him of the cash and narcotics he was bringing to the meet(ing) location," the Canton Police Department previously said.
