Atlanta Beltline Planner To Bring Preservation Tips To Cherokee County
Lynnette Reid will speak during the annual Cherokee County Historical Society's Historic Preservation Awards Banquet.
CANTON, GA -- The Cherokee County Historical Society's 2017 Historic Preservation Awards Banquet will feature a key player in the movement to transform the Atlanta Beltine from a dream into a reality.
Lynnette Reid, senior planner for the Beltline, will be this year's featured speaker at the banquet, which will be held at 7 p.m. March 17.
Reid is responsible for overseeing the update and implementation of the 10 Subarea Master Plans and the BeltLine Overlay District Standards. She also coordinates the Atlanta BeltLine Design Review Committee, and serves as a planning liaison with the city of Atlanta’s Office of Planning to develop policy.

“As Cherokee County continues to grow, it is vital that we focus on sustainable growth that incorporates our historic properties," said Historical Society Executive Director Stefanie Joyner. "The Atlanta Beltline is a great model to follow on repurposing a defunct rail system and revitalizing and preserving historic neighborhoods. We are excited to have Lynnette join us and hope that community leaders will join us to hear about her work.”
The Historic Preservation Awards Banquet honors property owners in Cherokee County who have shown outstanding commitment to preservation.

This year's event will be held at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center in Canton. Tickets for the banquet and dinner are $25, and there will be a cash bar.
