In the fall of 2016, the agency got an anonymous tip from a resident about the alleged operation and police followed up on the information. With the help of surrounding local agencies, Dunwoody police began investigating the organizations allegedly operating as escort services in its jurisdiction.

The tip led to the identification of two groups, Atlanta Gold Club Escorts and Lipstick and Shoes Escorts, and the arrests of the groups' owner and operators, the female defendants as well as patrons of the organizations.

"There is no disputing that this was a criminal enterprise," Dunwoody police previously told Patch. "More arrests are expected as the identities of the buyers are confirmed."

Other agencies assisting Dunwoody police in its investigation include Atlanta Police Department’s APEX Unit, Cobb County Police Department, Clayton County Police Department and the Sandy Springs Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit.
