Bell's Store Engraved Brick Orders Due Feb. 1

Bricks from the demolished Bell's Store are being sold to fund Cherokee Historical Society's future preservation efforts.

Residents who want to help the Cherokee County Historical Society in its future preservation efforts have a little less than a month to accomplish that goal.

The organization said the deadline to purchase engraved bricks from the demolished Bell’s Store is Feb. 1. The purchases can be made on the Historical Society’s website.

The organization is using the initiative to honor the legacy of Bell’s Store, the former home of Cherokee Market Farm Fresh Produce demolished last summer to make way for a Flash Foods convenience store with gas sales.

A petition was created to save the store and many in the community rallied around Cherokee Market owner Lisa Meyer, but the property owners and Rollins prevailed.

Residents who wish to support future preservation efforts can purchase a commemorative brick, which will be engraved with the donor’s name and placed at a new courtyard at the society’s Rock Barn next to Canton Elementary School.
