"The Birthday Candle" Recounts How a Spark Became a Tradition

Yawn’s Publishing next week will host a book signing ceremony for a Canton resident’s first book.

Residents can stop by and greet Jamie Bobo, the author of “The Birthday Candle,” at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 26. Bobo will be signing copies of her book, a “whimsical tale” of how the practice of placing candles on birthday cakes became a tradition.

Bobo is a native of Canton where she lives with her husband and two daughters. A former elementary school teacher, she was encouraged by her family to put “The Birthday Candle” in writing, according to the book’s website.

Yawn’s Publishing is at 198 North Street in downtown Canton.
