Boot's Ride For Courage Returns Oct. 14 In Canton

Blue Iron Georgia's 5th annual event will benefit families of law enforcement officers affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

CANTON, GA -- Blue Iron Georgia's 5th annual Boot's Ride For Courage will be held next week in Cherokee County, and organizers are seeking to help the families of law enforcement officers affected by flooding stemming from Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

This year's event, set for Saturday, Oct. 14, begins and ends at Cherokee Veterans Park at 7345 Cumming Highway in Canton. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the bikes will depart at 11 a.m. The registration fee is $25 per rider, which includes lunch from Williamson Bros BBQ. Music and raffle prizes will also take place following the event (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).

Money raised on Oct. 14 will be used to help provide temporary housing and replace lost items. Most of these families, said Blue Iron National Secretary Shaun Steele, do not have flood insurance, and FEMA only provides about $33,000 to each family to help in the aftermath of flooding.
