The Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, the Georgia Department of Revenue and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the operation Sept. 23 in an effort to identify these establishments.

The undercover operative was “unsuccessful in purchasing any alcoholic beverages from any of the establishments,” the agency added.

Cherokee County Chief Marshal Ron Hunton expressed pleasure in this week’s operation.

“Having 100 percent compliance is the goal,” he said. “Checking identification is certainly a good thing and is what we are after – compliance in these stores and restaurants doing their part in keeping alcohol out of the hands of our children.”

The Cherokee Marshal’s Office will continue these types of operations in effort to reduce the opportunity of children possessing alcohol in Cherokee County.

Anyone wishing to report an establishment who is selling or allowing minors to purchase alcohol is asked to call the Cherokee Marshal’s Office at 678-493-6200.
