Canton Based Schoen Insulation Services Builds Habitat Home
Habitat North Central Georgia and Schoen Insulation Services Partner to Build Home
The tears were overflowing last Saturday at Habitat North Central Georgia’s dedication of a home for the Franssen-Arnold family. The home is located on Arliss Drive, in Canton, and it was the fourth to be built on this street in the past year. It was a beautiful morning and many friends and family gathered to celebrate this moment with the family.
The home was built for Terri Franssen-Arnold and her 6 year old daughter, Peyton. Ms. Franssen-Arnold suffers from a debilitating disease which limits her ability to work. She has struggled for many years trying to make ends meet and being able to take care of her medical needs. Ms. Franssen-Arnold was overwhelmed with the prospect of owning her own home and expressed extreme gratitude at the ceremony.
“I am so grateful, my heart could explode,” said Ms. Franssen-Arnold. “I have met so many wonderful people and I want to thank everyone who helped make this happen. It is a dream come true.”

The Franssen-Arnold home was sponsored by Schoen Insulation Services. The company, founded in 1989 and located in Canton, is the national leader in the manufacturing of non-metallic machined parts. Stephen Schoen is active in the local community and a major supporter of Habitat North Central Georgia where he is a member of the Board of Directors. In support of his house sponsorship, Stephen Schoen reached out to his business associates who generously contributed an additional $20,000 to fund construction of the Franssen-Arnold home.
Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that builds affordable homes for purchase by low-income families who demonstrate the capacity for responsible homeownership. Since its inception in 1995, Habitat-NCG has completed 285 homes serving an estimated 1,000 family members in the North Fulton area and Cherokee, Dawson and Forsyth Counties. Habitat-NCG does not give away its homes. Partner families, who earn 30% to 60% of the Atlanta area median income, purchase their homes at or near appraised value utilizing 30-year no-interest financing provided by Habitat. In addition, each partner family is required to attend educational classes and perform 200-300 hours of construction “sweat equity.” Family members work side by side with the volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff to build their homes. Habitat-NCG’s slogan is “A Hand Up, Not a Handout.” For more information concerning Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia, please visit www.habitat-ncg.org.
