“Motorists are saving around $11 for a full tank of gas compared to this time last year,” spokesman Mark Jenkins said in the AAA’s weekly gas price brief. “That gives travelers more money to spend on lodging, shopping and dining out. For those on the fence about taking a trip, these low gas prices could be all the incentive one needs to hit the road.”
This news follows AAA Travel’s predictions that 46.9 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during the Thanksgiving holiday. That’s a 0.6 percent increase from the 46.6 million people who traveled last year and the most in eight years.
The lowest price reported Tuesday in Canton on AtlantaGasPrices.com was $1.94.
