Canton Gas Gauge: Oil Prices Drop 'Like a Rock' Just In Time for Spring

Gas prices are at their lowest level this time of year since 2009, AAA says.

Gas prices fell a bit more last week, and falling oil prices could bring even more relief, AAA said in its weekly fuel price briefing.

“The price of oil dropped like a rock last week, which could signal lower prices at the pump in the coming weeks,” the briefing said.

Nationally, the AAA said prices fell for the eighth straight day and was $2.43 on Sunday. That’s $1.27 less than the peak price last year, saving motorists more than $19 for a full tank of gas.

“The price of oil has not seen dramatic increases in the past couple of weeks and motorists are reaping the benefits,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in the briefing. “Gas prices are at their lowest level this time of year since 2009, which will entice people to take a road trip this spring.”

The lowest price reported Monday in Canton on AtlantaGasPrices.com was $2.13.
