Canton Gas Leak Shuts Down Union Hill Road Temporarily
According to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, Union Hill Road will be closed for at least two hours Tuesday due to a gas leak.

CANTON, GA — Union Hill Road near Cumming Highway is closed Tuesday for at least two hours due to a gas leak repair, according to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.
The gas leak was caused by road construction crews digging with an excavator while working on the Highway 20 widening project, said Michael R. Sims, public relations and recruitment specialist.
According to the fire department, Atlanta Gas Light is performing the repair.

Firefighters are monitoring the air, and fire officials said no evacuations will be conducted at this time.
Union Hill Trail can be accessed from Union Hill Road, and Cumming Highway is open.

The Union Hill Road gas leak comes a day after the River Green subdivision was temporarily shut down to a construction crew hitting a gas line. The gas leak prompted an evacuation at River Green Academy.
