Canton To Host Police Recruitment Program
The Canton Police Department is looking to hire diverse men and women to join its ranks.

CANTON, GA -- The Canton Police Department is in the market for officers, and will host a police recruitment program for anyone interested in joining the agency. The program will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov 16 at Canton City Hall.
Canton police are actively looking for "diverse men and women who aspire to join a very professional organization and possess a community mindset to serve and protect the citizens of Canton," it said on its Facebook page.
Residents interested in attending the session are asked to arrive no later than 3 p.m. Attendees will be given an overview of the Canton Police Department's core values, mission and nobility statements, budget facts, new equipment, current initiatives, work projects and review of its organizational structure.

In addition, presenters will cover a summary of the department’s hiring process and standards as well as employee salary and benefits. "We are very excited to host this event because our goal is to attract the most professional, viable, diverse and community oriented candidates that are the best fit for our organization," Police Chief Mark Mitchell said. "We are working hard to build a team that strives to connect with our citizens, protect our public, supports each other and endeavors to improve the quality of life for the community we serve. We want to be proactive in the recruitment of officer candidates and not simply reactive by posting the position and wait for individuals to apply."

The department encourages citizens to keep tabs on the department's Facebook page for additional information about recruiting in the weeks leading up to the program. The agency will also be reaching out to military outsource centers, colleges, law enforcement academies and other civic organizations in an effort to attract the best applicants for the position.
