Canton July 4th Parade, Fireworks: 2018 Guide

The city's annual celebration begins with a parade at 5 p.m. Wednesday and ends with a fireworks show.

CANTON, GA — The city of Canton is preparing for a full evening of fun celebrating the 4th of July. The city's event commemorating Independence Day will be held Wednesday, July 4 at the Riverstone Shopping Center.

Kicking off at 5 p.m. will be the annual 4th of July Community Parade, which is organized by American Legion Post 45.

The parade will begin at Riverstone Boulevard at its intersection with Bluffs Parkway. The procession will continue south on Riverstone Boulevard, turn right onto Riverstone Drive and make another right on Reinhardt College Parkway where it will end at its intersection with Riverstone Boulevard.

Festivities continue with a free concert by The 80ators, an 80s tribute band, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the city of Canton stage in the main parking lot.

The highlight of Canton's event will be the annual 4th of July fireworks show, which will light up the skies at dusk. The city's event is hosted by Canton Tourism.

Anyone who wants to register to march in the parade can contact Raymond Rollins with the American Legion at raymondrollins@yahoo.com or 770-479-4613. Parade participants should arrive at Teasley Middle School at 151 Hickory Log Drive beginning at 3 p.m.

If you're worried about the weather, you should know that there's a chance for thunderstorms every day this week, according to the National Weather Service. On Wednesday, a 30 percent chance for rain kicks in at about 9 a.m. and lasts all day. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny, with highs near 90 degrees. We'll have that same 30 percent chance after dark, so keep an eye on the latest forecasts before heading out to enjoy the fireworks shows in the metro Atlanta area.
