Canton Man Charged in Sixes Road Burglaries

Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office are reviewing whether other burglaries in the area can be attributed to Kevin Gentry.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged a man in connection with two burglaries, and are reviewing whether the accuser is linked to additional crimes in the area.

Kevin Gentry, 22, has been charged with two counts of commercial burglary and possession of marijuana less than an ounce, the sheriff’s office said on Monday.

Deputies on Friday, Dec. 5 were dispatched to a burglary call at Marco’s Pizza at 3725 Sixes Road. Once they arrived onto the scene, deputies ”discovered a rock had been thrown through the front door and the cash drawer was missing from the business,” sheriff’s office spokesperon Lt. Jay Baker said in a press release.

While at the business, those deputies also discovered the business next door — Bio-Tech Cleaners — also had its “front door shattered by a rock and the cash register was missing,” Baker stated.

Sheriff’s detectives were able to find a finger print at the pizza restaurant, which was subsequently matched to Gentry. A search warrant was obtained for Gentry’s home in the BridgeMill subdivision, and detectives uncovered evidence that allegedly linked him to the crimes, the sheriff’s office said.

“Detectives are reviewing other recent burglaries in the area that might be attributed to Gentry,” Baker stated.

The Canton resident remains in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $23,400 bond.

Gentry’s arrest comes on the heels of an early Saturday morning armed robbery of CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Bells Ferry and Sixes roads.

A suspect armed with a gun and wearing a ski mask on Dec. 6 took an undisclosed amount of cash and personal items from the store clerk before locking the employee inside a bathroom and fleeing the business.
