Canton Man Injured in Motorcycle Accident Charged With Drug Possession

After he was hit, Darren Thomas allegedly walked away from the accident scene to hide drugs he had in his possession.

A Canton man who received minor injuries after he was hit while riding a motorcycle has been charged with drug possession.

Darren Thomas, 43, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and possession of a drug-related object, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Deputies with the agency were dispatched to an accident around 8 p.m. Thursday on Hickory Nut Drive at Reinhardt College Parkway/Highway 140 in unincorporated Canton. They determined Thomas was traveling on a motorcycle with no lights on the shoulder of S.R. 140.
