Canton Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

BREAKING: The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money from BB&T on Prominence Point Parkway.

CANTON, GA -- Canton police say they have arrested the suspect wanted in connection to a bank robbery reported earlier this month.

Canton resident John S. Adams, 59, was taken into custody without incident and has been transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, Canton police said Wednesday.

He's charged with robbery by force or sudden snatch in connection to the Sept. 6 incident.

Officer on Sept. 20 received information that allegedly tied Adams to the robbery, which occurred at BB&T at 152 Prominence Point Parkway.

Police say the suspect walked into the bank around 10:52 a.m. and made a demand for money.

No weapon was brandished, and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money in a light-blue older model Ford Thunderbird or Mercury Cougar.

Along with the tip, the agency's Uniform Patrol and Criminal Investigations divisions were able to "obtain further incriminating information that was verified to identify and arrest the suspect," the police department said.

Adams remains at the facility with a $19,769 bond.
